Ways to Promote
Do you have a web site or a blog that you want to get more traffic to? Here are a few ways to get the word out;
- Add a signature to your emails so that everyone you send a message to can see your links. (This can include adding your link to your myspace page as well.)
- Start posting messages in threads and forums. Get people to know who you are so they trust your input. (Myspace, Cafemom, Facebook, BeBo, Craigslist etc.) Then give them a link to your page. They are more likely to go to the page when they trust you than if they think it’s spam.
- Read other blogs and post respectable comments, then leave your link at the bottom of your posts.
- Make sure you use good tag words. Words that you would find in your blog or on your site that search engines will pick up on. For example, my site http://www.flamingdeer.com has my artwork which I’ve put onto clothing, mouse pads, clocks and much more. My tag words include a description of my designs; fire, flame, hibiscus, flower, sea turtle. I could go on and on with different words to discribe my page since it’s filled with different types of items. Why do I do this? When you go to a search engine and type in a word you want your site to show up as one of the sites you searched for. This helps bring in traffic.
- Sign onto linkreferral.com to promote your page
- Sign onto http://entrecard.com which is another way to promote your page.
- Have someone “stumble” your page on stumbleupon.com
- Go to sites that are similar to yours and offer to swap links; you post their link on your page and vise versa. (Smaller sites are more likely to do this then big sites.)
Here are some other pages that give detailed ways to increase traffic - these are in no particular order, just some I found that will hopefully help.

Some good suggestions - you’ve been doing your homework!
I’ve found Stumbleupon to be pretty useless when it comes to getting traffic. Yes it’s nice when a lot of people drop by, but Stumblers very rarely click on ads or buy anything (and if you are looking for revenue, that’s vital).
I tried Entrecard but they said my blog “wasn’t a blog” (because I have a static first page) so that was that! I like the look of the widget but I’ve heard other people say it didn’t help them much.
